Drop-off and pick-up time windows

Let customers book "drop off between 7 and 8am" instead of a rigid 7:15 slot — calmer mornings for them, a clearer arrivals list for you.

Most dog parents don't mean "7:15 exactly" — they mean "sometime between 7 and 8". Time windows let you offer exactly that, and they make your morning arrivals board far easier to read.

How windows work

You define a small set of windows per location, for example:

  • Morning drop-off — 7:00am to 8:00am
  • Midday drop-off — 11:30am to 12:30pm
  • Afternoon pick-up — 4:00pm to 5:00pm

When a customer books through your portal, they pick a window instead of an exact minute. Any arrival inside the window counts as on time — no more "you're seven minutes late" awkwardness at reception.

Setting up windows

  1. Go to Settings → Locations and open the location.
  2. In the Time windows section, add each window with a label, start and end time, and whether it's a drop-off or pick-up window.
  3. Windows must sit inside that location's opening hours — WagDay won't let you create a 6am window if you open at 6:30.

Windows are optional. Leave them off and everything works with exact times, just as before. You can also use windows at one location and exact times at another.

For staff making bookings

The staff booking form offers the same windows as a dropdown. Need to override for a specific customer (say, a vet visit at 10 sharp)? Switch to exact time for that booking — windows are a convenience, not a straitjacket.

The arrivals and departures board

On the scheduler, Expected Arrivals and Expected Departures group the day's dogs by window rather than by exact minute. Each entry shows whether the dog is still pending, checked in (green), or running late (amber) once the window has passed. You can check dogs in and out directly from these panels with one tap.

Pick-up windows are especially useful: if a dog is overtired or off their food, staff can see the owner's 4–5pm window and ring them early within that range, rather than guessing when someone will turn up.

What customers see

In the portal, windows appear as simple choices — "Morning drop-off (7:00 – 8:00am)". The booking confirmation and booking detail page show the window range with a reminder to arrive within it. If a location has no windows set up, customers see the normal exact-time picker instead.
