QR code check-in and check-out

Scan a dog's collar tag or booking QR code to check them in or out with one tap — built for thirty dogs arriving in thirty minutes.

When half your day's dogs arrive in the same half hour, tapping through menus to find each booking doesn't scale. QR check-in turns it into: scan, confirm, next dog.

The two kinds of QR code

  • Booking QR — one per booking. It appears on the booking's detail page and can be printed on the confirmation or shown on the owner's phone.
  • Pet tag QR — one per dog, printed once and attached to the collar. Scanning it automatically finds that dog's booking for today, so regulars never need a new code.

Codes are digitally signed, so a photo of another facility's QR — or a made-up code — won't work.

Checking dogs in

  1. Open the Scan page from your dashboard navigation (the camera icon).
  2. Allow camera access when your browser asks — once is enough.
  3. Point the camera at the QR code. WagDay shows the dog's name, owner, booking time and current status.
  4. Tap Check In. You'll hear a confirmation sound and the scanner resets, ready for the next dog.

Checking out at the end of the day works the same way — scan the tag and tap Check Out. All the usual rules still apply: for example, a booking that requires a deposit must have it paid before check-in, exactly as with the manual flow.

Printing collar tags

Open the dog's profile and choose Print Collar Tag. Any standard label or tag printer works; laminate the tag or use a waterproof holder and it will last for years. If a tag goes missing, just print a new one — the code is tied to the dog, not the physical tag.

If the scan doesn't work

  • "No booking found for today" — the dog isn't booked in. Make the booking first, then scan again.
  • Invalid code errors — the code is damaged, belongs to another WagDay business, or has been tampered with. Reprint the tag.
  • Camera won't start — check the browser's camera permission for the site (usually the lock icon in the address bar), and make sure no other app is using the camera.

You can always fall back to the normal check-in button on the booking — QR is a faster path to the same result, and every scan is recorded in the booking's activity log just like a manual check-in.
