Changing or moving a booking

Move a booking to a new time yourself when the facility allows it, or send the facility a change request. What the online cut-off means, and why some changes go to the facility.

Updated 16 Oct 2026

Need a different day? Depending on the facility and the booking, you can move it yourself straight away or ask the facility to move it for you.

Two ways to change a booking

  • Choose a new time moves the booking yourself, straight away. It appears on the booking's page when the facility allows online moves and the booking can be moved online.
  • Request a change sends the facility the time you'd like. Your booking stays as it is until they approve.

If a booking can't be moved online, its page says why. Request a change is still there whenever the facility can take a request.

Moving a booking yourself

  1. Sign in to the portal, go to Bookings and open the booking.
  2. Choose Choose a new time.
  3. Pick a new start day on the calendar. Each day shows whether your whole stay fits, so a stay of several days is only offered when every day of it has room. Days that are Fully booked or Closed can't be picked.
  4. The times start as your booking's current times. Change them if you need to.
  5. Before you confirm, the portal checks that exact time and shows the answer. When it says Same price, choose Move booking.

Dates and times are always the facility's local time, wherever you are.

Once the booking has moved, the portal shows its new time and status. If you'd already paid, your payment moves with the booking. Nothing is charged or refunded.

The online cut-off

The booking's page shows "You can move this booking online until …". That's the facility's notice period for this booking, the same one that applies to cancelling.

After the cut-off you can't move the booking online, but you can still send a change request. The facility decides, and their late-change fee may apply; the page tells you the fee if there is one. Nothing is charged automatically when you ask.

Why a time might need a change request

The portal moves a booking online only when it can do so straight away at the same price. Otherwise it explains why and offers a change request instead.

What the page saysWhat it means
The facility reviews a booking at that timeA new booking at that time would wait for the facility's approval, so this move goes to them too.
That time has a different priceOnline moves are same-price only for now. The page shows both prices, and the facility confirms the new one with you.
The booking has extras, a voucher, a package credit, transport or a recurring seriesThese can't be moved online yet. The facility moves them for you.
A payment is still being processedWait for the payment to go through, or ask the facility.
Your pet can't be booked at that timeSomething about your pet needs sorting first, such as vaccinations, an assessment or the facility's breed rules. The page says what's needed; you can still send a change request.
A card on file is neededThe facility asks for a saved card for that booking. Add one under Payment methods, or send a change request.
The facility handles booking changes itselfThat facility doesn't use online moves. Send them a request.
Fully booked, closed, or too soon to bookPick another day.

A booking that's still waiting for the facility to confirm it keeps waiting after you move it: the new time needs their confirmation too.

If something goes wrong

  • The connection dropped while moving. The page says it couldn't confirm the move. Choose Try again: it checks first, so a booking can never be moved twice.
  • You were signed out part way through. Sign back in with the emailed link in the same browser. The portal brings you back to the same page, where Check and finish completes the move or shows that it already happened. Until then, the booking's page shows Check and finish too, even after the online cut-off.
  • The page says it couldn't check from here. Open the booking: its page shows whether it moved. If it didn't, you can choose a different time.
  • Something changed while you were deciding. If the last spot goes, or the price or the facility's settings change, the portal checks again and shows you the new answer instead of moving the booking.
