Notifications and updates

What emails and updates to expect — booking confirmations, reminders, vaccination alerts and photos from the daycare — and how to fix missing emails.

The portal keeps you in the loop automatically. Here's what to expect, and what to do if something doesn't arrive.

What you'll receive

  • Booking confirmations — sent the moment you book, with the date, times, drop-off/pick-up windows and (where the daycare uses it) your check-in QR code.
  • Reminders — a nudge before an upcoming booking, so a forgotten Tuesday doesn't turn into a no-show fee.
  • Vaccination expiry alerts — sent before your dog's certificate lapses, with time to see the vet and upload the new certificate. Act on these early and you'll never have a drop-off surprise.
  • Cancellation and refund confirmations — whenever a booking is cancelled or money comes back.
  • Payment receipts — for every charge, including any cancellation fees.

Photos and day updates

Many daycares share photos and updates from the day through the portal — check Gallery for photos, and your booking for notes or a report card on how your dog went. Not every daycare posts every day (busy days mean dogs come first), so a quiet day isn't a bad sign.

Push notifications in the mobile app

If you use the WagDay mobile app, updates can also come to your phone as push notifications:

  • Push is off until you switch it on — the app never asks for notification permission out of the blue. Turn it on from the app's Settings when you want it, and back off any time.
  • It's set per facility, so if your dogs attend more than one daycare on WagDay, you choose for each one.
  • Works on iPhone and Android. The WagDay app covers getting set up.

If emails stop arriving

  1. Check Account → Message history in the portal first. It lists the emails and texts the facility has sent you — the subject, a preview, when it was sent and its delivery status. If the message is there, it was definitely sent, so the trail leads to your inbox or spam folder. If it's not there, the daycare may have a different email address on file for you. Your account and privacy has more on what's stored.
  2. Check spam/junk — especially if confirmations used to arrive and suddenly don't.
  3. Check your email address under Account in the portal. A typo here means everything goes to the wrong place; fix it and future emails come to you.
  4. Mark a WagDay email as "not spam" or add the sender to your contacts — that trains your email provider to deliver them.
  5. Still nothing? Ask the daycare to check the email address on your customer record.

Managing notifications

Under Account in the portal you can choose what you receive:

  • SMS messages — booking reminders and alerts by text, if the daycare offers them.
  • Email updates — payment links and payment reminders are only emailed while this is on. Booking confirmations are always sent, either way.
  • Marketing — news, offers and promotions from the daycare. Off by default if you've never opted in.

One caution: if you switch Email updates off, payment links stop arriving too — so if the daycare says they've sent you one and you can't find it, check this setting first.
