The WagDay app (iPhone and Android)
Get started with the WagDay app — sign in with a 6-digit code, book, manage pets, upload vaccination certificates, push notifications and multiple facilities.
The WagDay app puts your dog's daycare in your pocket — bookings, photos and updates from your phone.
Getting started
The app connects to a specific facility, so you start from theirs:
- Open your facility's invite link on your phone, or scan the QR code on the poster at reception. (You can also type the facility code by hand if that's easier.)
- Check the facility name is right and confirm.
- Enter the email address the facility has on file for you and tap Email me a code.
- Enter the 6-digit code from the email and tap Verify code.
The code expires in 10 minutes — that's what keeps it safe to email. If it lapses, tap Resend code for a fresh one (there's a short pause before you can resend again). On the website, sign-in uses an email link instead of a code — Signing in to the portal covers that.
What you can do in the app
- Book a day — and if you get interrupted mid-booking, your unfinished booking is saved on your phone as a draft, so you can pick up where you left off instead of starting over.
- Request a cancellation — the booking shows its Cancel by time, same as the website. See Cancelling a booking.
- Manage your pets — add a dog or update their details.
- Upload a vaccination certificate — photograph it, pick a photo, or attach a PDF from your phone. See Uploading a vaccination certificate from the app below.
- Browse the Gallery and read report cards from each visit. See Photos, videos and report cards.
Uploading a vaccination certificate from the app
Your dog's profile in the app has a Requirements section that tells you, in plain words, whether anything needs doing — for example "Vaccination required — upload a current certificate", "A vaccination was rejected — re-upload a valid certificate" or "Awaiting facility review". Tapping a row that needs action opens the upload form straight away.
To upload a certificate:
- Open Pets and tap your dog.
- Tap the Requirements row that needs fixing, or tap Add vaccination record under Vaccinations.
- Choose the vaccine type — distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, kennel cough or other. (If you arrived from a "vaccination required" row, the type it's asking for is already selected.)
- Fill in the vaccine name, the date administered and the valid until date, both as
YYYY-MM-DD, exactly as the certificate shows. Vet name and notes are optional. - Attach the certificate with Take a photo, Choose a photo or Choose a file — a JPEG, PNG, WebP or PDF, up to 10 MB.
- Tap Submit for review.
While it uploads you'll see Uploading certificate…, and once it's through, Sent for review — the facility will confirm it.
A few things that trip people up:
- iPhone HEIC photos aren't supported yet. If your photo library hands the app a HEIC file, use Take a photo instead, or share the certificate as a JPEG or PDF.
- Camera access is only asked for when you tap Take a photo. If you declined it earlier, the app shows an Open settings button to fix the permission on your phone.
- On a flaky connection, a failed upload shows Try again. It's safe to tap: if the first attempt actually reached the facility, the app spots that and won't send a duplicate.
What the statuses mean
Each vaccination on the profile carries its own label:
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Current | Verified by the facility and still in date. |
| Expiring soon | Verified, but the valid-until date is close — time to see the vet. |
| Expired | Verified, but past its valid-until date. Upload the new certificate. |
| Awaiting review | You've uploaded it; the facility hasn't checked it yet. Nothing to do. |
| Not accepted | The facility rejected it — usually a blurry photo, a mismatched date or the wrong document. Upload a fresh copy. |
| Recorded | On file without a verification result. |
The Pets list shows one badge per dog summarising the same thing: Not accepted, Awaiting review, Vaccination required, N expiring soon or Vaccinations current.
When a booking is blocked
If a dog's vaccinations aren't in order, you'll see the same Requirements rows against them while choosing a pet in the booking flow — tap one and the app takes you to that dog's upload form. If a booking is knocked back at the last step for vaccination reasons, a Fix vaccination records button appears with the error and takes you to the same place.
Only verified certificates clear a dog to book, so a record sitting at Awaiting review won't unblock a booking until the facility checks it.
Push notifications
Turn on push notifications under Settings in the app and you'll get booking updates, photos and reminders straight to this device. The app only asks for notification permission when you switch the toggle on — never out of the blue.
A couple of things worth knowing:
- Push needs a real phone — it can't reach a simulator or desktop.
- If the toggle says notifications are turned off, the permission was declined earlier. Fix it in your phone's settings (Notifications for WagDay), then try the toggle again.
More than one facility
Using WagDay at two daycares (or a daycare and a groomer)?
- Go to Settings and tap + Add a facility.
- Connect it with its own invite link or code, just like the first one.
- Tap a facility in Your facilities to switch between them.
Settings like push notifications are kept per facility, and signing out is per facility too — you'll need a fresh one-time code to sign back in to that facility.
What the app can't do
A few jobs still live in the web portal — open it in your phone's browser when you need to:
- Pay a balance or a payment link
- Buy passes
- See billing history and receipts
- Request a copy of your data
Everything else — booking, cancelling, pets, vaccination certificates, photos — works right in the app.
