Payments and invoices

How you're charged, where to find receipts, paying via payment links, and an honest explanation of late-cancel and no-show fees.

Paying for bookings

Most bookings are paid by card — the price is shown before you confirm, and a receipt is emailed to you after every payment. Every payment lands in Billing in the portal, where you can see what you've paid and what's still owing.

The Billing page at a glance

Billing is your money home base. From top to bottom:

  • Summary cards — your package credits, how many bookings still have a payment outstanding, and your membership (if you have one).
  • Open balances — bookings that still need a deposit or balance payment, each with a Pay now button.
  • Invoices — your invoice history: number, issued and due dates, status, and how much is paid versus still owing.
  • Recent payment activity — the latest charges and payments against your bookings.

There's no receipt download button here — receipts arrive by email after each payment, so your inbox is the best place to search at tax time.

Sometimes the daycare sends you a payment link instead — for example for a balance owing, a grooming add-on, or a booking they made for you over the phone. The link opens a secure payment page showing the amount owing: check it, pay by card, and a receipt lands in your email. If you've already paid part of the invoice, the link only ever charges the remaining balance.

Payment links expire after 72 hours, and a link to an already-paid invoice won't open a payment page. If yours has lapsed, ask the daycare to send a fresh one.

If a payment fails, it's usually an expired card or a bank hiccup. Check your card details and try again, or use a different card — your booking is held while you sort it out.

Cancellation and no-show fees, explained fairly

Nobody likes fees, so here's exactly when they apply and why. Daycares have limited spots; a spot cancelled too late to resell costs them real income, so most set a policy like this:

  • Cancel with plenty of notice (typically 24+ hours before the booking): full refund, no fee, automatically.
  • Cancel inside the notice window: a late cancellation fee — often around half the booking price.
  • Don't show up at all: a no-show fee — often the full price.

The exact notice period and fee amounts are set by your daycare, not by WagDay. When you request a cancellation the portal shows your cancel-by time; any fee is confirmed when staff approve the request, with an email receipt either way. Cancelling a booking has the full rundown.

Fair go tips:

  • Genuine emergencies happen — ring the daycare. Most will waive a first offence for a good customer, and that's their call to make.
  • Cancelling on time is always free. If in doubt, cancel early and rebook when you know your plans.

Passes and packages

If your dog attends regularly, Passes in the portal (e.g. a 10-day pass) usually cost less per day than casual bookings — see Passes and credits. Pass usage shows up against your bookings automatically — no punch cards to lose.

Vouchers and promo codes

If the daycare hands you a voucher or promo code, Vouchers and promo codes explains where to enter it and how it's applied to your booking.

Card security

Your card details are handled by the payment provider (Stripe) on their secure payment page — the daycare never sees or stores your full card number.
